Struggling to Get Disability Benefits for Mental and Physical Health Issues

I’ve been fighting SSA(social security administration) for years now, for my severe depression, bipolar disorder and also manic. Fibromyalgia and RA and I’ve been denied twice. Has anyone been approved and if so any tips because I’ve tried to work but I have social anxiety and severe depression, I can’t remember anything or concentrate so I can’t keep a job I’ve tried and it’s sad because I’m good at whatever I attempt to do?

I haven't even applied because SSI/SSDI income wouldn't be enough to pay my mortgage with. Good luck and get a lawyer like others said.

I think it has a lot to do with your age. I actually have a hearing next week this is my first time applying I'm not really expecting to get it but I am almost 60 years old so I'm hoping because every day I have severe symptoms there's no way I could work under these conditions and I haven't worked for the past 5 years because of it. It all started when I had cancer in 2016 and I had 33 radiation treatments and 5 months after that I started getting sick. It's nearly impossible to find the right doctor I'm still looking six years later my PCP doesn't have a clue and it's hard to know what specialist you need to see for a dysautonomia condition. I'm learning though! Prayers please for my hearing on Thursday. Will keep you updated.

I had to get a lawyer. It took about 2 years. He told me that if you are under age 50, you almost always get denied. Right after I turned 50 they approved it.

It took 3 times for me and 5 years. Luckily was able to get a great lawyer. 2018 was finally accepted. Hopefully soon you will get it.

I was approved fairly easily. They sent me to their doctors for evaluation. The physician told me he didn't know how I was still walking. The psychologist did the normal tests for cognition & depression. I agree, get a lawyer. You must be consistent with what you say & don't give any information that is not asked for. The first time I got tripped up when the doctor asked what I did for fun. I offered up too much & caused him to deny it.
