CW Drugs // So this is a VERY stupid question, but bear with me. Is it possible for different alters to react to substances differently? Usually whenever we take a few cannabis-infused gummies, we're unaffected for like an hour before it hits us and we get loopy and tired, then just fall asleep. Usually it's me, R (the host) doing this, and usually it's pretty nice since we struggle to fall asleep usually. The other night though, H took a few gummies, and we had just an absolutely god awful trip from Hell. Hallucinating, convulsions, throwing up, anxiety, etc. I know weed does different things sometimes, but to my knowledge, nothing changed about the "routine" except the fact the gummies were a bit older and left out? AFAIK there's a very slim chance they were laced (I'm not discrediting that idea yet, though) The only major difference was who was in front. H already has a few physical differences, like having worsened vertigo. I just don't know if him being in front could have caused such a bad trip? Can some alters handle their weed worse than others??? Preemptively, we've (lovingly) banned him from doing weed again

Oh, absolutely. Especially if one alter has more experience with it than others. Very common in our experience. -Julie from the StoneHaven system.

@StoneHaven_System Thank you for the insight! To my knowledge this is the first time he tried it himself, and iirc he just saw it as doing the system a favor 😭 Bless his heart LMAO
Yeah that can happen, does he usually have worsened issues with the symptoms that he experienced during his trip as well? Sometimes weed will amplify your feelings and exaggerate your psychosis symptoms and such so if those were already a bigger issue for him than anyone else in there hes more likely to react like that, and even if its only one of these symptoms it can still spiral into all of them. If not sometimes intense weed allergies can cause that and alters can sometimes have different allergies and different levels of allergies.
@AnimalBoy Sorry for replying late! Not really though; he doesn't really have any special physical symptoms normally other than the aforementioned dizziness. (unless I'm just... you know....... forgetting things LOL) Unless taking weed while dizzy can cause a bad trip, I'm not sure that's it 😭 And mentally he's not that bad off either; he has some Strange Feelings about some less than healthy activities, but ultimately he's a fairly chipper guy. I actually only learned recently that allergies can differ from alter to alter; that's so wild to me that I never considered it, BUT it could very much be a possibility I suppose 🤔

@Luxxy yeah that does sound like an allergy, which like sucky allergy to have to that capacity but what can you do ya know?

One of the replies to a similar question suggests that different mental states can indeed have different reactions to substances like THC. The reply stated, "As someone with a small amount of dissociation experience, for me being high with a neutral or bad mindset and being dissociated feel pretty much the same. Which freaked me out when I realized, because my first major bouts of dissociation occurred around the same time as trying cannabis for the first time." This suggests that the mental state of the person consuming the substance can impact their reaction to it.
