I have been diabetic since 1995. How do you stay on top of your sugar levels?

I check my bood sugar a lot. When I get up in the morning, before I eat, after I eat. I try to keep blood sugar under 140 two hours after I've eaten to keep A1C down. The ADA teaches 180. Forget that!!! My A1C will rise. I want to keep my vision and limbs. I'm on amaryl to quickly lower blood sugar as needed. I don't eat bread, tortillas, rice sugar... simple carbs. I do all this and my A1C is still just 6.2 in January. My goal is under 5.7 with diet, exercise and medication. So difficult. The highest my blood sugar went is 8.4. Yikes!!! Yesterday I got blood work drawn. New A1C soon.

3 years. A1C 6.2 in January. Just got a blood draw today, it should be in the 5s. I switched to a plant-based, low carb diet November 1st 2021. Lost 30 lbs.

it took me 3 years of trial & error and accepting that I can no long eat my favorite cheez-itz, chips, bread, Tortillas... I won't eat carbs in moderation because carbs make me crave more carbs. Sooo, I stick to berries bananas apples peanut butter with banana...❤️🤗👍🙌
