Struggling with Diabetes and Sugar Addiction

I have been diabetic for quite some time now, and I struggle with not eating food that's bad for me( chocolate, soda, chips) I don't want to eat this way but sugar has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. it's so bad that I hide candy in different places in my room so my husband and kids won't find it. I wait til everyone is either asleep or not home so I can eat it. please help me.

I tested and tried some other options that helps me most day curve the cravings.... Diet coke is the closest to coke that I figured. If I want salty... I make a tray for me and keep it in the fridge. The tray has beef summer sausage, cheese, olives or pickles. So when I want to snack, it's easier to grab that from from my tray. It feels like I'm cheating but it's not. All of that is carb free. I try to Remember NOT to be too strick. It just makes me binge or want to give up. You can do it! Try it! :>

I'm the same way. I would get up in the middle of the night and take bites of chocolate or some chips and it ruins my fasting glucose and hinders my weightloss.

Dark chocolate (i like up to 70% cacao) in small amounts is not bad for you. In fact dark Chocolate can help bring glucose down. Clear American sparkling water is sugar free, carbonated & satisfies my soda cravings. Nuts are a great alternative to chips. Popcorn is also better than chips. Sugar free Popsicles. I can't have even fruit Popsicles (ie outshine) because even though they have very little sugar they raise my glucose. I have found oat milk ice cream pops satisfy my ice cream craving & don't raise my glucose. Do a low carb, high protein diet, to counter any sugar you do run across. There are ice creams that are sweetened with splenda, but they can raise glucose. As far as chips go, try things like popcorners or veggie straws.

I have a bite or two of sweets a day. Thats about all my body can take since I already have kidney disease. Just think about what too much sugar does to your body when you consume it. Its not good. Please take care if yourself.

It would help if you meet with a nutritionist. They can help you find snacks that is sweet but not full of refined sugar. Like fruit and berries. If you need anything salty, try nuts instead of chips. I had the same problem but I learned if you don't bring it in your house, you won't be eating it!
