Managing Depression and Rheumatoid Arthritis

I struggle with major depression and rheumatoid arthritis. How do you deal with these and the way they impact each other?

I found that RA exacerbated my existing depression. Definitely have spent a lot if time being angry & sad & wallowing & disengaged. I don’t have any cures for it, I have just given myself time & space to feel it & then slowly try to reach out to people to remind myself I’m not alone & that my life is worth living regardless of the challenges of my body.

Well, I do suffer from depression but I’m also a very happy person, so I always feel like I have to have a smile on my face. And then when it does rear it’s ugly head, I fight it with everything I’ve got. I really try my hardest, and my husband says I’m good at, making sure I’m not treating others poorly. I also meet with a counselor every week and lean into God and prayer. I don’t know if any of this helps, but that’s just what works for me. You’ve got to find what works for you.
