I’m having a terrible time with depression today. Mentally and psychically. It’s almost that time of the month (TMI sorry) does anybody notice your more depressed around that time? I never noticed before but now that I’m super anxious and depressed I’m wondering if it’s making it worse. Any suggestions? I’m just trying to make it through the day but damn I feel it today.

I also feel more depressed and anxious right before my period. If you're worried about medication side effects, there are genetic tests they can do to help determine which medications you'll respond the best to/which will have the least side effects. That's what I did. My medication side effects were mild and they left after two weeks, which is much better than lots of stories I've heard.

I have absolutely noticed a correlation between my anxiety/depression and when I’m menstruating. It’s like it adds fuel to the fire. If you can try to take it easy and find something that has the highest chance of bringing you joy, well that might be hard but it’s worth a try. I hate those days when surviving through it is all you can do. I hope you get through this period of “down-ness” soon. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Good luck and feel better ❤️

I definitely notice a correlation between my anxiety and depression and my monthly cycle. PMS for me exaggerated my mental health whether it’s for better or worse. Just take it easy and be patient with yourself. It won’t last forever :)

I used to get a lot worse around my period. If your antidepressants don’t help around PMS, try looking into birth control—it’s done wonders for me

Unfortunately I’m not on any antidepressants at the moment .. I’m so scared to try them and deal with side effects

I did notice that it was to the point of being suicidal and out of control until I got on birth control that totally stops me from having any of that happening.

I also struggle more with my conditions around my menstrual cycle. I have mapped out my cycle to help me be more mindful of myself during those "peak" times. The only time I have lost control is during my period but since I took the time to learn my cycle I am better prepared and I can also warm my husband that I may be more sensitive to my triggers during that time. For so long I thought this was just a "me" issue, it's nice knowing I'm not the only one.
