Struggling with Depression and Anxiety: Need Tips for Socializing

so I have pretty bad depression and anxiety rolled together and I find it hard to go out in public but I get super depressive when I'm at home all the time. I've been on different medications like Fluoxetine for these problems and I never really thought they worked out. But I'm so tired of living that loop. I want to be more social and free but my anxiety just keeps me from going out. who has tips for that?

i do exposure therapy for this. I just take baby steps. one of my goals was to take the city bus. on the first day i couldn't even get on it, but I went up and touched it. the next day i felt fine walking to the bus stop since it was so familiar, but I still got that anxiety when it was time to get on. but since I had touched it i said today I will just go up the steps. I did, but then i felt good enough to at least sit down. once I did i realized it wasnt that bad at all. if I needed to leave I could easily pull the cord and get off. mayne you could look for places that don't have as many people or isn't that loud, such as a library, and take baby steps ÷)

Sageluna, I recently had to let go of a lot of my closest friends because of lack of communication, so I'm actively looking for more friends and unfortunately I don't have the house that can really have company over. But I love those ideas :)

wow this is literally what I have been dealing with for the past few months. i thought i was the only one. I want to be okay with staying in and watching movies and being alone but it’s hard for me not to be around people all the time. I think something that may help is finding supportive friends that know what you are going through. maybe you could invite them over and you could stay in together. also appreciate the times that you are alone so that you can focus on yourself and personal growth. i hope this helps :) and you’re not alone!!
