so if you have general depression, do you still find your mental health to be affected by the seasons? For me im depressed all year round but it usually feels a bit worse in the winter time

For me I get more depressed in the summer. I have chronic migraines and the sensory overload of the warmth and brightness summer brings is too much for me. In spring it’s just constant allergies, fall and winter are always joyful times for me, especially because of Halloween. I’m generally more happy around those times.

I have dysthymia. So joy is a foreign thing to me when I am not medicated. Like a black and white version of life with no color. Getting outside in the fresh air and sun always helps me. Spending time socializing is for the most part invigorating. Finding a good social crowd is tough but worth it. The biggest challenge though is when in the throws of depression the last thing you wanna do is get outside and be social. And we have to tell ourselves that that’s okay to. Everyday is different. Good days will come again. Habits are important. I force myself outside in the sun as much as I can. Next step is getting myself to the park.
Definitely. Depression is there regardless of the season, but it hits harder in Winter and particularly hot Summers.
I tend to feel worse in the summer because on days when it's bad and I see people having fun and just being out living their best life makes everything worse. My therapist even told me suicide rates are higher in the spring than winter because it gets warmer out people come out more and tend to be happier and seeing that when your already so low can push people over the edge.
Seasonal depression is a thing! For me, I get seasonal depression, then it just switches to the underlying "normal" depression
Yeah that only makes sense. For me spring is the worst for some reason.. maybe anxiety about people being more active in the summer and also always feeling like I'm missing out on something because of my own anxiety. For some reason the smell of spring also makes me feel like my time is limited even though I'm so young..

Yes I definitely experience that
I definitely do. General depression and seasonal depression aren't mutually exclusive for sure. ❤️

I do well during the fall because I get hyped for October, once Halloween and Day of the Dead passes, I dread it. I get more down and I feel unmotivated with everything. The Winter is usually really tough for me
i do especially worse in the summer. last summer i was hospitalized
Im always struggling with this. Mental health is a mystery. My anxiety tops it off the most 🥴😔
i personally feel worse during the winter time as well. or even during nighttime.
I feel the same way
