i did really bad last month. i couldn’t leave my apartment or see anyone i knew including my closest family and friends and was severely anxious and dissociated. i would recommend slowly exposing yourself to the things you’re anxious about and find some way to express and rationalize your feelings, like writing or art. sometimes we just have to sit with a feeling and let the energy dwell in order for it to pass. it’s all energy, and energy is fleeting. you just have to let it pass. if you need someone to talk to, i’m here ❤️

yeah last night specifically i had kind of a crisis about it lmao. i was kind of able to just ignore it before but since recently i had someone i actually knew pass away for the first time, i couldn't stop thinking about it. i had a long conversation with my sister about how to live with that anxiety rather than pushing it away whenever possible. it's helping. slowly.

I always try to read things about grief in order to “prepare” myself but it only helps a little

Yes, it keeps me up a lot of nights. I'm sorry you're dealing with it. Sometimes I remind myself I should spend more of my time living rather than worrying about dying. But I'm still going to feel depressed about it sometimes.

Yes! Had it since I was a kid and it pops back up regularly, it can be a hard one to talk about because some people don't get it, but if I think about death and dying too much I just burst into tears and cease to function!

Oh dang, there's a specific name for this?? I used to have panic attacks (I think) as a kid over it. I would cry so hard before bed that I couldn't communicate with my family to tell them WHY I was crying, and then I'd feel so silly over it in the morning that I never brought it up afterwards. Then the cycle would continue. Im fairly good at Logic-ing my way out of anxiety, so "my parents made it this far, so can I" became my motto. When I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes the anxiety hit harder. I had to get a tattoo which weirdly helped, and it still gets bad if I don't have my monitoring device to tell me when I get low. Sorry, long comment. But you're not alone. I kind of embraced the dark aspect of it and have learned to appreciate life and death together. It doesn't mean I'm not still scared of dying, but if I do pass tonight, im leaving life better for those around me. I've also discussed funeral plans with my family so they won't have to make too many hard decisions. They're hard conversations but they are necessary at any age (im not even 30)

yes, definitely! Even when I was like 8 years old I’d lay in bed trying to imagine what it’s like to be dead to “prepare” lol. I’ve been trying to find a spiritual belief system that works for me to combat it but I’m a bit of a skeptic so so far, no luck 🤷🏻‍♀️ let me know your thoughts!
