Does anybody have any tips for dealing with uncertainty? I've become so obsessed with finding the answer to a personal issue that it's causing me a lot of stress and making me do an excessive amount of research. My brain wants to know right now and I still want to find an answer eventually but I cannot maintain this fixation

@Nuclearsnot ooh I see, I've heard of this technique where you plan out your worrying or researching and you give yourself like and hour or too to look it up and think about it, you won't have guilt or as much stress during the day because you will keep reminding yourself that you have an appointment, try it out! It might work

I used to really struggle with the same sort of issue, I needed to resolve an issue as soon as it came up and couldn't cope if I couldn't resolve it. My psychologist helped me regrade my 'inaction' as action. When you think about it inaction when you're emotional is actually more difficult than action, so even though you think you're not doing anything you're making a conscious decision not to do anything which in effect is doing something and it's doing something much harder than giving into the impulse of trying to do something. It helps me buy a bit of time to be a bit more rational in my approach to things (sometimes only a few minutes) which generally leads to a better outcome. I hope that helps, even if only a little bit.

Is it something you can actually fix, or is it something you wish you could fix? Also if you find the answer will you be calm or still fixate? I tend to do research on personal problems and it works well, but sometimes I am worried they will keep recurring.

@PrettyPolar2 Whether the situation is fixable or not kinda depends on the answer and I would definitely feel content after figuring it out so it's not something I want to drop entirely, I just get too caught up on it and it's exhausting
