I have shaved my nape (luckily it was in style) for a couple years because that was an area that I would pull at often. Unfortunately so is the front of my hair but so haven’t found a fix all for that. Overall, my reduction in occurrence is a mixture of reducing stress and increasing things that keep me busy. Reading is a big one. It keeps my mind focused on a subject that needs more attention so I’m not thinking about or getting anxiety over things. I try to keep my hands busy with fidgets or textural items. I also took up cross stitching so my hands would literally be busy and unable to pull hair while doing that. I have seen an improvement over the last couple years but nothing that stops it completely. I have been struggling with it since high school (about fifteen years).

I keep my head shaved its the only thing that helps. Makes me sad though, I miss my long hair.

Finally found a medication that helps. I have a pretty severe case of trich, I pull about 100 hairs a day usually. I've tried a lot of medications (as well as willpower and a bunch of little tricks but the urges were way too hard to resist) and now I'm on mirtazapine and it helps a TON. I didn't pull any hairs today. Only one yesterday. I still have the occasional urge but it's much more manageable, I can resist it by relaxing or doing something else. Before that was never possible.
