What are all you guys doing about the adderall shortage??? It’s just now becoming a problem for me and I’m kinda freaking out. I’m in my senior year of high school and am going to be so screwed without it

I had to get like a prior authorization because of my insurance, other than that minor inconvenience no. However, you said you were a senior in high school, so I’m assuming you’re on your parents insurance? You should be okay. There are other ones other than Vyvanse. I would just express your concerns openly and honestly with your prescriber. Perhaps look inquire about all your option? I know they have come out with a few new kinds too.

I see that's this just isn't affecting my area. Yeah I didn't didn't have Adderall for over a month which isn't that bad. Look I into different meds if you can and suggest it to your parents. Or you can do what I didnt and lower the dosage and wait until they have your regular back in stock.

Another option would be to look into Saffron. It’s a natural remedy for ADHD. Studies have found it’s just as, if not more, effective than Adderall. I switched in October and haven’t had any issues.

I haven’t been able to get Adderall for….. idk, over 6 months at least, and it’s honestly been really rough. I was trying Ritalin for a while, which was better than nothing but not great. I’m not able to try vyvanse bc it interacts with one of my other meds, sadly, but I’m trying concerta starting tomorrow, and if that’s not good, my psychiatrist said I might be able to try a non-stimulant med, but we’re hoping maybe the concerta will be a good enough stopgap.

@aldrwytch WOW 6 MONTHS!! That'd just awful I'm so sorry you have been out for that long. Maybe you can try lower from your normal dosage?

@aldrwytch Should note, I also had to change docs midway through because they kept bitching my prescriptions. Without that problem, I’m sure you’ll find a solution much more quickly. There are lots of meds out there, so, while you may or may not find something just as good as the adderall for you, you should be able to figure out something that will work well enough to get through.

Then you could always go back to Adderall once the shortage fixes itself hopefully. However, I don’t think I could function with nothing. It’s difficult, especially depending on how severe your ADHD is.

Talk to your doctor. There are many other ADHD medication’s that are just as good as Adderall. I’ve been on Adderall since I was 14 but recently had to switch to Vyvanse. It works just as well, if not better IMO. Vyvanse is just one of many other types of ADHD meds. Hope this is helpful. 🤞🏻

@Healing333 thank you! I’ve tried vyvanse in the past and didn’t like how i felt but maybe I’ll try it again. Have you had any problems getting that?
