Dealing with Switches in Public

When in public situations, what do you do when you feel a switch about to happen? Mine happen often in front of others and I never am able to explain.

I generally just go like "oh...heh, sorry, I got a little spacey there." Or if we're walking I might ask to sit down. (My feet hurt or I feel lightheaded, etc, any excuse I can think of) The lightheaded one works pretty good because I can get away with closing my eyes and taking deep breaths and doing casual grounding stuff to assist or delay the switch. It's also easier to dismiss a weird behavior that way too. (Grabbing the head from switching pain/looking zoned out/feeling nauseous/head sagging forward/body twitches.) These things can also be symptoms for dehydration so it's easy to play it off as that. "Oh... I'm just thirsty...haha..." 🤣 For a person who is completely innate unaware of your DID, they'll never suspect. DID is nowhere on a normal person's radar, so they probably won't understand regardless. I have switched in front of coworkers many times. Nobody suspected anything like DID at all. We are all great at making, but there are still subtle differences. They would just assume I was in a different mood than usual. I only know this because after I left my job, I told an old coworker who is still my friend about the DID. He never once thought anything of the switches or noticed different alters at all. People are NOT as perceptive as we think they are!

You try and distract them right before switching by pointing at something so they will talk more and not notice your switching
