Dealing with Stress-Induced Flare Ups

I hate that simple stress can cause my body to go into such an intense flare up. My ex decided to contact me again. I’ve been working on moving on and being happy, but today he decided to reach out and ask if I was jealous at all of him and his new partner. The stress of remembering everything again is causing me to have an IBS flare up I think. I’m nauseous and my stomach hurts, I hate it! Does anyone have any tips for calming yourself down to make the flare end quicker? I have been wanting to try hypnotherapy for it, but I have no idea how to even begin looking for that sort of help.

ibs flares are the worst. i'm so sorry you're going through one. during times like that, i try to do the things that A) i like, and B) keep my mind/body busy. so usually yoga or a brisk walk around the house for me. good luck 💖

taking walks can be really helpful sometimes (although they may be hard/painful in the moment). i feel like it gives me purpose and helps me loosen some of those super tight muscles from IBS flares.

Yes! Walking really helps me- I like to pace back and forth around my room or house when I feel sick, and I like to listen to relaxing hypnotherapy videos while I do it. It helps me a little bit!
