Sounds trigger my anxiety and anger easily, especially chewing sounds or yelling (happy or angry yelling). My family often finds it funny and makes the noises on purpose, or they just don’t listen and continue making as much noise as they want even when I ask them to be quieter. Have any of you guys dealt with this and if so, how do you handle it?

It’s called misophonia I believe. I have it as well. My dad is a real asshole about it. My mom and boyfriend simply have learned to help me. We eat in different rooms or I eat something crunchy while they chew. My boyfriend is naturally loud and he softens his voice around me

Yes, misophonia sucks!
This is called misophonia and family is a major trigger for it!!
I have the same type of issue, and like Rosie said it's called Misophonia! I usually have my noise canceling headphones or earbuds in, that way I can control what noise I'm hearing.

My noise cancelling headphones are my life line for this. They sound very insensitive and I’m sorry you have to go through that. I hope you’re able to find boundaries that work or at least afford good quality noise cancelling headphones
