Dealing with Sciatica and Back Pain: Need Advice!

Well I'm back in the PT game. this time they are doing upper and lower back. I've gotten so much worse in the past 6mo. sciatica is killing me. even tho it's my back that's bad my legs are impacted. sciatica just started a few months ago. but that's when I quit the narcotics. I'm wondering if being off them is making me feel more. orthopedic surgeon said he can't do anything, there's 2 much damage for him 2 touch anything except my hip, he gave it a steroid injection thru epidural, man that hurt. and of coarse it didn't work. my hip pain is not from the massive arthritis in it. it's from my back. still waiting on neurosurgeon and rheumo referral 2b approved. I just don't wanna walk like Grandma anymore. what do y'all do for sciatica going down the back of both legs? I'm now using a cane for balance. do those wraps on ur knee work at all? seen them on TV . always willing to try anything!! over it!!
