I also remember it is ok to remove myself from my trigger, to walk away and take a breath.

I try to focus on the here and now, like on my breathing, the weather, my body, how it feels. Do I need water, to walk, to rest, etc. I might focus on my feet being planted, my surroundings. Anything to bring me back to the present. Does that make sense?

I try to stay in the now. When I start to feel like I'm slipping back I just try to practice mindfulness and bring myself back to the present.
