Struggling with GERD Symptoms

Hi my name is Lee Ann and I have 3rd stage GERD. No medication seems to work and I cough from the acid getting into my esophagus. I throw up a lot and I don't sleep. Does anyone else have this problem?

You have to get on proper diet for it to not aggravate the symptoms

Please don't do omeprazole twice a day unless directed by a doctor for a short time period only. That is playing with fire. If a GI says they cannot do more for you, get a new GI. 😥

Do you smoke cigarettes? And have they ever given you the option to have surgery on your esophagus ?

no I do not! I just had my first scope done because food kept getting caught. I had been on Pepcid AC 2x daily for the last 6 mths. After scope my GI said I was very inflamed, hyatial hernia was larger than she would like and my asophigus is twisted. She put me on Pantoprazole daily, changed my diet and wants me to lose weight. Surgery would be a last resort

Yep, me too. I take omepeazole twice a day. I take carafate as needed. It helps a lot for me.

omeprazole twice a day does more harm if you take it for longer than 5 days like that. If 5 days wasn't enough to tame the issue for you, your GI needs to find an alternative that works.

I'm pretty sure I have had most of them. It has gotten unbearable in the last 3 months. I have not been sleeping at all.
