I was diagnosed with PCOS about three months ago. My doctor said she based the diagnosis on a series of symptoms despite my past ultrasounds coming out as normal. I have had only one normal menstruation since the age of 13 and I am now 22. I either don't menstruate or it is maybe two or three drops of blood. I have very high levels of testosterone with no hormone treatment and my doctor wanted to put me on an estrogen hormone therapy. I am transmasc and this is the last thing I want to do... any tips?

I remember her mentioning that she was concerned about my uterine lining becoming too thick. I will try and bring up my gender identity to her and see what can be done, thank you so much for your input.

Does your doc know you're transmasc? Getting on hormones, in my case birth control, limited my symptoms that were caused by my elevated T, like male pattern hair growth. I've gone off my BC periodically during high school for various reasons and my doc never pushed me back onto it until *I* asked for it/complained about symptoms so unless there's new research showing otherwise, I don't think it's required since PCOS can't be cured anyway. Talk to doc, even if you're not comfy telling them you're transmasc, tell them you're not comfy with messing with your hormones and ask WHY they want to put you on them. A definitive medical reason, not "it'll stop your hair growth" or something that doesn't *harm* you.
