Dealing with Osteoarthritis Pain: Burning and Muscle Spasms

I have osteoarthritis in both knees and I am going to have total knee replacements. I am curious to know if anyone has burning and muscle spasms with the pain?

Yes I do too! I have it mostly though in my neck and back. My knees do act up and will swell. I found a knee brace that helps some times. Just depends the severity.

Yeah, the first doctor I saw for my 2-month migrane said I was all off center and crooked, as all the muscles in my neck & back had basically seized up. The physical therapist had me put my hands around my neck with the finger tips just under my hair line on the back of my neck & wiggle an abdominal muscle... I could feel my neck muscles move in tandem with the abdominal muscle. Too crazy. Theory has it is that due to my c-section in 1999 I had stopped depending on my abdominal muscles for core strength.

It was suggested to me that I might even have fibromyalgia but the problem was There is an any treatment other than taking this particular antidepressant called Lyrica and they didn’t wanna put me on that due to other concerns, but at any rate mine was caused by muscle imbalances not fibromyalgia. Glucosamine didn’t work at all. I think that might actually be some kind of a scam.

I don’t Understand why I can’t edit the above comment for a mistake. I’m using voice dictation and what I meant to say was imbalances. They can because by things as simple as sitting cross legged frequently tilting your head to one side or tilting your head to forward or having one shoulder go up due to scoliosis. I had undiagnosed scoliosis for years and only physical therapy made the pain better it still hurts a little bit but it’s much better than it used to be.

I used to have a terrible pain in my left knee well it turns out it was caused by and balances that I had developed over time. Because I had pain in my knee it turns into hip pain because I was not walking in a neutral position and I was leaning to one side when I was standing which I didn’t even notice until I went to physical therapy and they corrected it.

I get burning on the inside of my right knee. Cortisone shot did little to help, but a lubricating shot helped more.

I also need two knee replacements from OA. I do have burning pain but not muscle spasms. My calf’s get very tight and I use stretching exercises I learned at physical therapy. I hydrate a lot to avoid muscle spasms,
