Dealing with OCD in social situations

okay, so my OCD makes it to where every time I touch something I have to wipe it off and wring my wrists, but I feel like it looks rude if someone were to touch me and I wipe off where they touched. also I feel it makes me look weird if I'm constantly wringing my wrists after touching like, a door or something. I try to be discreet but I'm worried people notice ;_;. what do I do????

risk statements always help for me. say you fear something’s going to happen if u don’t wipe yourself off. or maybe nothing will happen and you’ll just be anxious. you think i’m going to have to take the risk that i’m going to be anxious. then it’ll ease out. the more u give into your ocd the stronger it becomes. try taking small steps back from doing ur compulsion. 💕 i know how hard it is but you will get better

I am the same way and I have always just found it easier to just be yourself and not care what people say or do. It’s easy to lie too if someone looks at you weird just be like “sorry there was something wet on there.”

I'm the same. Not often will someone bump into me or touch me but when they do I usually wait almost 10 seconds until they're gone so I can wipe the area off. Try carrying a hand sanitizer around if you shake hands & touch objects frequently. It won't look weird at all using a santizer, even if it's every 3 seconds.
