Dealing with Motion Sickness and Nausea with POTS

How do you deal with motion sickness and nausea in general with pots? I have the extra strength ginger chews and they help but I still threw up my lunch in the car today. I use dramamine but it makes me super drowsy. Has anyone tried non drowsy dramamine and did it work for you? I was also thinking about asking for a prescription for zofran for non motion/car related nausea.

I’ve tried scopolamine patches and didn’t find them very helpful, but I know they work really well for some people! If the constipation associated with zofran is a problem, you could try phenergan. I have also taken meclizine for nausea (also helps with dizziness)

has anyone tried a scopolamine motion sickness patch? The one you put behind the ear? I was thinking about asking my doctor about that but I read that can have a lot of side effects

Zofran is great but if you deal with constipation it’s not great for daily use. The smelling rubbing alcohol works for me too. I’ve also heard of using pressure point bands for motion related sickness so that could be something to look into if you’re trying to avoid rx

Smelling rubbing alcohol has been clinically shown to reduce nausea. I guess maybe keep a little vial of it with you and you can try it next time. Hope it works for you! I've never tried rx medications for nausea bc mine is so fleeting.

I take zofran for nausea with my pregnancy (I get really car sick and struggle with eating because of nausea) my doctor also recommended chewing peppermint gum when I experience motion sickness and that works pretty well most of the time for me pregnant or not
