Dealing with Migraines: How to Cope?

Hi everyone! I’ve been dealing with migraines for most of my life. The emotional toll is sometimes even heavier than the physical toll. What do migraine episodes feel like for you and what kind of things comfort you during?

Yes I can totally relate to that feeling after a bad headache! Usually when I'm in pain I lay in bad and take painkillers. I often fall asleep for a while and only when I wake up I feel that feeling of a new person, as if I just reborn 😅

@eugenia same! It’s almost euphoric to get though the worst of the pain and the contrast of being in the blur to getting out can feel seriously triumphant. Anyone else have an “after glow” type of feeling after a bad headache?

I have migraines whenever the weather is bad or I do too much repetitive activity. Once I get them, I start feeling cold and unmotivated, tired but not sleepy. But once they go away, I feel on top of the world.

I hate that Migraines just come out of the blue and paralyze me.. I always have light and noise sensitivity therefore I have to go home and even watching TV is not an option. I usually drink water and take Excedrin or Advil for Migraines and then I make myself a nice cup of tea or coffee and go sit in the balcony or lay down for a bit in bed. It's frustrating but I try to accept it and rather than fight it.

For me, migraines feel like dull, throbbing shards of pain behind one or both of my eyes, combined with nausea, light sensitivity, and sound sensitivity. It’s impossible for me to move when a bad one kicks in. They’re usually gone after I take medicine and sleep, but some of them linger into the next day. I hear you about how bad it sucks emotionally
