Does anyone get anxiety days before their intense appointment with their doctor EX: I was diagnosed with MTS may thuner syndrome and I see my Interventional radiologist in person on the 21st and I’ll need a venogram done with stents placed in pelvis veins and be on blood thinners for 6 months ..

i get the same way. I try to do any appts possible via telehealth now. It has helped reduce some of the anxiousness, but even those I've canceled before. I try to entice myself by saying "you've earned starbucks, or buy something on amazon, etc" i trick myself like some would a kid to go to the doctors. If works 50/50 lol

I came up with a little worksheet for me to fill out to help reduce my appointment anxiety. It helps me get the most out of appointments. It includes things like... what are all my issues that this doctor can help with, and it lists all questions including what should I do if the worst happens? I force all my doctors to explain what all the possible steps into the future could be. They don't really like it much but getting the whole picture of what a doctor can do for me and knowing they understand the whole story is the only way I don't crumble into fear, frustration, and anxiety.

@MammaCookie I'm glad you do that!!? I had PCP that I saw for 20 years and he mocked me when I took my list in so I never did it again but I made sure he always answered my questions.

My anxiety is so bad before appts where i need to actually tell doc or ask the doc something. So bad that my therapist told me to write it all down ahead of time and practice- like you would a speech for school. Even then i will be repeating it and then freeze and sweat and panic until the appt is over without bringing up any of my concerns. The whole appts is "yup, ok, sounds good." And when they ask if you have any questions- i just say " no, i think I'm good thanks." When i am clearly NOT good😨🤐

@RAwarrior94 Please remember, they are there to SERVE YOU. You are paying them for their knowledge.Just because your insurance is covering that visit, you pay for your insurance, whether it be Medicare, medicaid, insurance thru work or, what ever, someone is paying for that insurance. I've reminded some office help of that fact before.

@MommaJo sometimes i am able to speak up for myself, but the majority of the time i just break down. "Fear of authority," so says my therapist about why i get like that. Since it isn't just with medical providers. It's like my mind doesn't accept that i am a full grown adult and can talk to these adults. I feel like a little kid when in any situation like above.

My anxiety gets so bad before a doctors appointment that I end up not being able to sleep at night and missing the appointment.
