Today I'm dealing with a lot of guilt that goes with my pain and mobility issues as well as executive disfunction. I'm trying to tell myself it's OK to rest but it's been constant lately and I feel like the house is going to hell in a hand basket but if I push myself the pain and mobility will just get worse. How do you deal with the guilt? Or make it less?

I'm always so understanding of others but not with myself. I'm better than I used to be but I'm still fighting to get the internalized ableism to go away. Or at least to lessen a bit. What seems to help you the most? In finding acceptance for yourself.

I deal with a lot of guilt and shame when it comes to my disability. Deconstructing my internalized ableism from the hustle culture we are surrounded by did wonders for my mental and physical health. Learning to accept myself how I come and giving myself the grace I would give to anyone else in my situation support that forgiving mindset. Working on asking for help from a loved one or neighbor and taking the rest I need was also important for long term health and recovery from flares.
