i trick myself into doing things a lot! one thing i always struggle with is taking a shower, so i'll tell myself "im just getting undressed, im not going to shower. im just putting my towel in the bathroom, im not going to shower. im just brushing my hair, im not going to shower. i'm turning on the water but that doesn't mean im going to shower." and at that point autopilot takes over and i completely forget how i ended up in the shower and sometimes dont even register that ive showered until im out and picking out my clothes for the day

My therapist introduced me to an idea called "the wall of awful" and using those terms to think about my executive dysfunction helps a lot. How to ADHD on YouTube has a couple amazingly insightful videos on it. I actually started crying a little the first time I watched those specific videos because I felt so seen. Highly recommend!
