Dealing with Emotional Paralysis: Seeking Advice

Does anyone have any experience with episodes similar to what I'm describing? I have episodes where when I experience a strong emotion I lose the ability to move and speak. Not great! If you also have these, how do you deal with them? They make some aspects of my life just impossible.

Can you help? connect today

I have never experienced this myself, but it sounds like Catatonic Depression

Possibly dissociation, which is related to trauma and can feel like an out-of-body experience. I’ve experienced a few episodes of that, but haven’t learned how to “snap out of it” on my own.

i have these with depression, i go catatonic without the will or energy to move at all. most the time u gotta just wait it out but i know that almost like jump scaring yourself or surprising urself helps get yourself going. the only way to get out of it is to hit the ground running if you know what i mean. if im suddenly stuck on the couch i gotta forget im even there or what im doing and just mindlessly jump up and go before my brain can turn on again. hopefully that makes some sort of sense 😅
