I'm so sick of being in such extreme pain. My left shoulder started hurting in the end of February. It's been pretty bad. About a month ago, the pain switched to my right shoulder and lately it's been unbearable. I finally got in to see a rheumatologist on Monday! Any tips for my first appointment?

@royalty I've seen multiple doctors, each passing me off to hopefully someone else who can help. This rheumatology appointment has me hopeful that they'll help, but also worried they'll find nothing out of place

that's a great idea about the questions. I've written some down already, my boyfriend's mom gave me some tips and web pages to view to think of some questions. Also I was advised to bring along someone to help me remember or to write stuff the doctor says because I'm forgetful

Come up with a list of questions you have! Sometimes in the moment you forget some of your concerns and writing it down is super helpful. Also know what you want to get from the appointment (a treatment plan, med evaluation, a doctor who listens) that way you can leave your appointment with a clearer view of your feelings toward the doctor and whether or not you want to continue seeing them

My right shoulder started hurting last in December of 2020 and my left shoulder followed, both kept dislocating and it was awful. I'm still dealing with it now. If your doctor comes back and says it's nothing, don't be afraid to push for more testing or find another doctor.
