Dealing with Chronic Pain: Seeking Advice

I’m in constant pain, and have been since middle school. I’ve suspected fibromyalgia for years. I went to a rheumatologist and he stopped at my hypermobility. I do think that adds to my pain, but I just don’t believe that’s all there is. My joints hurt, but so does the rest of my body. It feels like someone is digging their fingers between my muscle and bone. I recently stopped going to see the rheumatologist because the meds and supplements he gave me did nothing, and he wouldn’t test for anything else. I could just use some advice from anyone who relates.

Hey! I have been in chronic pain for 9 years, but I didn't get diagnosed until 4 years ago. The diagnosis I have is not listed on Alike, unfortunately. I have Diffused Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain (Also called AMP's). I found this out by going to a chronic pain doctor ( a specialist), and you might want to look into seeing a chronic pain doctor too.

I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia but I've suspected hypermobile EDS for years now

Look into ehlers danlos syndrome if you haven't already. EDS causes chronic pain, including muscle pain because of the strain/tightness of your muscles having to compensate for unstable joints

Also there could be another condition aswell as fibro, so depending on what u think, I would definitely recommend pushing the doctors until you have a solid diagnosis and treatment plan that is working

Maybe it's worth getting a second opinion from a different doctor. Because fibromyalgia is a really misunderstood condition, and can often be diagnosed instead of something else because the doctors didn't do enough tests.

I can't offer much help but I also suspect both hypermobility and fibromyalgia, so I know how you feel
