Dealing with Chronic Pain for Two Years

I am 22 and have been dealing with all over body pain for about two years. It all started when I woke one day with a sore knee and thought I just sprained it while running or skateboarding. It didn't get better and I did physical therapy. Over the course of a couple months my back and hips started to hurt badly as well. Now I have sharp pain all over, mostly in my shoulder, back, hips and knees, but it is everywhere. It is a burning, sharp nerve like pain throughout my muscles and joints. I have done physical therapy for my back, knees, and hips and nothing has helped. MRIs have shown nothing is wrong besides a slight tear in my right hip labrum and some inflammation in my SI joint area. I have been to a rheumatologist and tested for autoimmune diseases and all came back negative. I had low vitamin D so I was given a supplement to take and take it daily and my symptoms have not improved. I have had injections in my back and hips and that has not helped either. I have gone to the chiropractor several times and that has not helped. I have noticed I have floaters in my eyes and am always extremely fatigued (I could sleep for hours and still need more). The only doctor I have not been to is a neurologist so I am at a loss of what to do or what is causing this.

try to get an emg and mrneurography if you haven’t already. for me, with long lasting untreated lyme and autoimmune disorder caused by it, mrneurography came up empty but emg revealed much less nerve activity/response than I should have. also recommend pain management doctors, because even if you don’t have a diagnosis they can help you regain mobility and quality of life.

definitely recommend a neurologist, but I have also had many nerve tests that came back empty despite my severe pain. I highly recommend getting an igenex or galaxy diagnostics test for lyme complex antibodies. this is a disease that hides in the body and doesn’t show on so many tests but can totally destroy your system and needs to be caught asap. many labs are not strong enough to detect it which is why I recommended those two labs; they are the most sensitive. also if you have had covid or been an asymptomatic carrier, there are many potential negative aftereffects that unfortunately are not yet well understood. but researching others’ experiences with long covid if you believe you have that could help you. it helps to get a doctor who is lyme literate to prescribe that test or one specializes in mysterious cases and misunderstood autoimmune conditions. many mainstream doctors know next to nothing about the reality of autoimmune diseases or infections that fly under the radar of modern testing. you may also want to test for mold poisoning or heavy metal toxicity. best of luck. I’m also 22 and I don’t want anyone else’s life to be stolen by pain like mine was. I hope you can find your answers.
