Dealing with Celexa Side Effects

How long did you deal with celexa side effects before you realized it wasn’t the right med for you? I’m on day 10 of 20mg (started on 100mg of Zoloft and 20mg was the equivalent). I’ve had anxiety/depression for about 9 years and I don’t think I’ve ever felt this way before. I sleep almost all day because it’s the only time my mind isn’t racing. I’m tired, nauseated, have no appetite, every time i wake up my heart is racing like I just had a night terror but I didn’t. I have absolutely no motive to do anything, I’ve missed two weeks of class and can barely leave the house some days, I feel like I can’t concentrate on anything and the mood changes have my anxiety convinced that it’s a brain tumor 🙃. I don’t even know how to completely describe how I feel mentally- just like drained and almost absent, I’ve withdrawn from everything and I can’t deal with this for 4-8 weeks. I’ve read that nearly everything is a side effect of this med and I’ve never dealt with side effects like this before. I’m unsure of what to do, because I know switching on again to something else will be hard but the way celexa has made me feel cant be much worse.

SSRI’s usually take 3-6 weeks before you see the full effect of the medication. i’m sorry you’re feeling this way! 🤗 sending hugs your way. if side effects don’t improve try contacting you doctor to find a better medication. They could do another SSRI like Prozac or Paxil or try the Zoloft again (depending on why you got off of it) They could also do a SNRI like Cymbalta or Effexor. 💕 hope you feel better

I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. I had many of the same symptoms and couldnt take it. Consult with your doctor and let them know how you’re feeling. Hopefully they have a solution because you definitely don’t deserve to feel like this. When I spoke with my doctor about the severity of the side effects I was switched to sertraline. Best of luck and please take care.
