Dealing with Anxiety and Toxic Family

My anxiety has started spiking for no reason and I don’t know what to do. My anxiety is spiking right now but idk how to calm myself down or what to do about it. And I’m going back home for spring break to a toxic household this weekend and I don’t want to have a panic or an anxiety attack when I’m with my family. And I don’t have another appointment with my counselor for another 2 weeks. And I haven’t talked to my counselor about my issues with my anxiety because it’s never gotten this bad before. And I’ve started cutting again even though I don’t want to. And I haven’t talked to her about my cutting either because it hasn’t been an issue either. What do I do???

I'm so sorry you're in this situation, it must feel so frustrating. I'd recommend finding a repetitive activity, like kneading dough/clay, or doing embroidery or crocheting. Pop-its are also incredibly satisfying, and I've found repetitive actions calm and center my mind. I know you can get through this ♥️

Find an alternative to the cutting, second I suggest if you can try to avoid being around the toxic people too much. If you can't then I also say trying maybe writing in a diary about what's going on to let stress out. Maybe see if you can talk with others who bring you happiness when you start to panic. I'm not too sure what to do as this is happening to me as well and I also don't know what to do, I'm in a different scenario but I still can't stop the anxiety

The same thing has been happening to me, something that helps me is trying to isolate myself from everyone else and take as long as I need to calm myself down if your in a room it helps me go shut off the lights so everything isn’t so sensory, if your around ppl it helps to put earphones in and listen to music or podcasts to get your mind off of it, if it’s commonly happening all the time medication might be good to look into when you get the chance, I take lexapro which helps a bit

I’d suggest a stress ball for now or find something that always calms you. I’d certainly look into a medication or treatment for your anxiety if it continues to worsen but please bring it up to your doctor or counselor first. I’ve been there before and it’s probably one of the worst times of my life. All I can say is to look out for yourself, take care of yourself. Personally I have a CBD vape/gummies that I will take to calm myself or enter a relaxation state.
