Dealing with Alopecia: Medications and Emotional Strain

What medications or treatments have you had success with if any? How have you dealt with the emotional strain of alopecia?

Nothings worked except for injections, but injections suck. So I stuck with bald. Eventually my head hair started growing back which was nice, but my eyebrows and basically all other body hair is fickle. At this point, my hair (and lack thereof depending on how adventurous my immune system is in any given month) doesn’t bother me. I’ve begun a game where I see how long it takes people to realize I have no eyebrows.

The emotional strain was hard. I was probably in a negative feedback loop, as it was encompassing most of my head with overlapping spots, and I'd just had hair to my shoulders... which took me 2016-2021 to grow, and I had a 6"+ beard where just the end of my chin fell out, so it was ridiculous and had to go as well. Once I shaved it all to really get to the bottom of things, I found out pretty quickly that it doesn't actually make it sny less obvious. I have dark brown hair, so my "shadow" just highlighted the spots. What really helped was finding and dating someone who never flinched about it and was extremely understanding and soft-approached and just filled me with confidence enough to blow it off. I had coincidentally just gotten past a lot of heavy life stress shortly before we met, so I can't be sure which had the bigger effect. But, my whole head grew back (the back came in denser, softer, and darker 😳). My beard kinda came back also? But it's muchhhh more sparse, and most is THIN and colourless like vellus hair, and the ones which are coarse are *extremely* so and sometimes cause pain in root pore. But it's there, just grey/white/clear. Dermatologists show zero concern and literally won't look at it longer than 10 seconds. Not sure what's up with that lack of concern...

None - have tried all but injectables. Until they offer CRISPR treatment literally nothing is going to help; it's in your genes and your phenotypic expression. ✅ Anti-dandruff shampoo & malasezzia medication • zinc pyrithrione + selenium sulfide, both & clotrimazole 1% ✅ Ciclopirox 0.75% + zinc pyrithione 1% + salicylic acid 1% compounded shampoo • ro.co / getroman formula ✅ Clobetasol propionate topical 0.05% (steroid) ✅ Triamcinolone Acetonide cream 0.1% ✅ Screaming into the void ✅ Pushing it out by making the "joe rogan in the sauna" face ✔️ "Just relaxing and removing all stress from my life" 🙄🤡
