Dealing with a Choking Phobia

Hello so I’ve had a choking phobia since middle school and I’m 22. It has made me starve myself for 3 months and blend up food. I’m not sure if this is a eating disorder or just a phobia. Or both ? No therapist has been able to help me

It could develop into a ed, if not already, particularly Arfid from my own experience. I’ve had emetophobia since I was 4, and saw alot of foods as being “unsafe” or wouldn’t want to eat because again I felt it wasn’t safe to do so majority of the day or would just always associate food with being sick. Phobias involving fears of throwing up or choking can develop into eds if not addressed, which many professionals do not acknowledge unfortunately but I hope you’ll be able to find someone to help and understand you the way you truly need. Don’t lose hope <3

I do NOT suggest choaking yourself to prove you will live. But exposure therapy for you could be making yourself eat solid foods. It will be uncomfortable and you will hate it, but just doing it is proving your phobia wrong. Every time you do it just adds to the growing mountain of "I have done this before and lived. I can do this again and live." And eventually the fear becomes so quiet you hardly hear if
