Struggling to Stay Awake During the Day

Been trying to stop sleeping during the day. I usually sleep 1-2 hours around late morning/midday. (I would probably sleep a lot longer, but I have a 2 year old, and he won't nap for any longer than that.) Anyways, I started drinking coffee to help me stay awake. It's been about a week, and today I literally feel drugged. I could not wake up, and I feel cognitively impaired. I am so out of it. I don't know how to keep up not sleeping if it's going to affect me this way. My husband, unfortunately just doesn't understand and gets quite frustrated that I take naps.
