I agree with the comments mostly. People don't understand what MS is and don't want to know! Plus it affect people who has been diagnosed with differently.

Because people who donā€™t have it canā€™t know exactly what itā€™s like, and itā€™s just so hard to know when to tell people(if you donā€™t have visible symptoms especially). My husband and I had only been dating a few weeks when I told him, but thatā€™s when Covid was ramping up around here so I needed him to know why I had to be so careful

Because no one knows how difficult it can be. Empathy isn't something alot of people have in abundance. In the first few years I didn't even mention it to anyone. After time, if trust was there I'd share but never all at once. I hate to say it but those who don't understand or care aren't worth your time anyway. It's a very hard thing to share and when we're just starting to date we want to present ourselves in a good light. Don't worry about dating just focus on yourself and staying as active as possible. There are always chances to meet people who have similar experience and interests, even same issues. Focus on you and the rest will follow. BTW, this is a safe place to vent. We might not be able to fix it but we will listen. ( charlee51)

People lose their compassion until bad things happen to them. The same goes with family, unfortunately.

Because they look at it as guaranteed caretaking at some point. The unknowns are scary.
