Cyst or Cancer? How Can Doctors Tell?

I have a cyst how would my Dr. know that it's not cancer unless he did a biopsy?

The cyst was in my breast and discovered during my mammogram. They discovered it during my regular mammogram and had be come back and do more testing. Basically different views of my breast then ultrasound. So yes they are having me come back in six months as you suggested. I guess I wanted to know how different a cyst is from a tumor. I think I saw a little white dot on the x-rays. I definitely felt the ultrasound when it was right on the cyst, but don't feel a thing when I do a breast exam.

Hi, testicular cysts have X-ray characteristics that are suitable for being benign. I assume you had a testicular ultrasound to diagnose this cyst. Most of the cysts are not malignant and it is not necessary to take biopsies from them but only to follow up. I suggest you make an appointment in about six months to see that the cyst has not changed or grown and that way you will know it is benign.
