My 11 Year Journey with Cymbalta for Anxiety

Hello everyone, I have been taking Cymbalta for 11 years to treat anxiety. I was taking 60 mgs from March 2011 to December 2020. It took me 6 months to taper off. By July 2021 I was back on 60 mgs, then my dose was increased to 120 mgs, then lowered to 90 mgs, then to 80 mgs, 70 mgs and finally to 60 mgs. On March my dose was increased to 90 mgs for 4 weeks and in early April it was increased back to 120 mgs.

I’ve been on Cymbalta for probably 15 years or more. It works pretty well for me and I have Wellbutrin added to my regimen. It is a powerful serotonin drug because I know I tried to wean myself off it and I didn’t do it slowly enough and I started having psychosomatic hallucinations like my throat was closing off and I was going to suffocate. For me it’s a good drug but it’s something to be careful with

hi. I was recently prescribed Cymbalta and I had the worst feeling in my life. I had to go to the emergency room because of it. I stopped using it after my first try. Very scary experience..

That's a lot of switching up and down in dosages which effects brain chemistry. I was on Cymbalta duloxetine for 8 yrs. Weaned off for 4 wks for allergy testing and when restarting and being back on for almost a yr old and my GAD out of control was told by my psychiatrist that sometimes it becomes ineffective. I'm now in the process of switching to Paxil paroxetine. I'm also in therapy. I'm considering ketamine if this paroxetine switch over doesn't help.
