Question about alters and control

Do any other systems have alters that aren't super separate ? Like ... they're definitely different than me but sometimes when they front it just feels like I'm just ... acting uncontrollably different rather than being someone else completely ... like they're controlling me instead of them actively being in control ... does that make any sense ?

It usually happens to us when we get partially triggered. Full triggers usually cause full switches, but definitely experience the blurriness/half and half feeling of not really being ourself but also not feeling like someone else!

Through the comments I can honestly say I relate. My alters helped me all my life, but only ever influenced me instead of fronting. Only once did they front and try to keep me from front.

Passive influence and also "identity switching" may help you define this. Super normal, and others have said, it can happen with a slow switch too or just general "blurryness"! That also falls under identity confusion, which is a huge problem for a lot of systems. Its still all dissociation too yk

They might be "fragments" that are similar to you. We have at least two fragments similar to that.

It happens it can be kinda weird but honestly really terrible and disorienting. I never would wish it upon anyone since it’s so confusing watching yourself do something not like you at all.

I have this sometimes specifically with our host! They're emotions sometimes can affect me and a few others. Like if Bear (our host) is extremely sad and one of us gets triggered/switched out we also get really sad and/or cry.

Definitely. There's also a thing called "passive influence" where an alter can influence your behavior without being fully in control. Sometimes it's something that happens when a switch is very slow, other times it just happens.

so i have this happen as well but i cannot switch with my alters. And i was wondering if anyone can relate. Like they influence me heavily. My mood. Lowkey tourettes. And probably hypochondria. And connecting with them is difficult. But i know they're there and weve conversated while i was extremely low.
