COVID aftermath: Gut issues and feeling different

I had covid Jan 9, 2022. Before covid, I was ok. I have no thyroid, in menopause etc.. I was dealing with LPR (silent reflux) it was under control. Diet mostly. After having covid, my gastro sxs are just bad. Gurgling, gas, uneasy stomach. I didn’t have these sxs before covid. My husband as well. I feel like this virus wrecked havoc in our gut. It’s very discouraging. The only way I can describe my experience after is by saying, I feel different. I can’t explain it. I just feel different than I did before covid. Make sense?

I had COVID in December of 2020, and my Fibromyalgia has been ten times worse since then. I totally understand that you feel different post virus.

I get this metallic taste in my throat from time to time as well. My husband has horrible nausea out of the blue. As if he has a stomach bug. Chills, headache, stomach upset, fatigue. Then it lifts miraculously. This is almost a weekly occurrence. Weird headaches.

Like MissAL said, I’m different. My brain. My body. I’m trying to get to that place of acceptance as well. I feel like ailments I had before are heightened to a new level. I can’t even explain it. When I had covid, I didn’t feel this. When I was recovery after, I had this feeling of sadness, numbness. Again, can’t describe it. Not depression either. Like my old self was gone. I wish I could explain it better.

I’ve had lingering headaches, fatigue, and can still barely smell and taste. He has horrible fatigue. We’ve both been told we have long Covid but there’s not really any help for us. We had it a year ago and are STILL dealing with this.

I had covid in Feb ‘21 and I haven’t been the same since. Issues I had handled came down tenfold and management ways just wouldn’t work. For me it triggered an auto immune response, a big one. I’ve been nauseous for a year, constant stomach issues, sleep issues, pain, severe fatigue, depression and anxiety to the max, cognitive issues(many). It took me 6 months to completely crumble and another 6 to get back on my feet and accept my life is different. My body is different. My brain is different. But it’s just a new season to adapt to and learn from. Next stage in life I guess.

I know so many people who say this phrase. “Haven’t been the same” can I ask what you are dealing with?

My fiancé and I had Covid at the beginning of 2021 right before the variants started coming around. We had the full on covid and we’ve never been the same either.
