Coping Without a Therapist: Advice Needed

I’m currently started backup on my medications, but I’m still having a hard time coping with everything without having a therapist. Waitlists are backed up to 8+ months. Any advice? I don’t have any friends to talk to about this

You deserve access to mental health care and I'm really sorry its hard to find right now. I'm trying to do small things as often as I can to be a little more content or have a little more progress in the right direction. But sometimrs it means being compassionate with myself thst im not gonna get out of bed that day

BetterHelp was nice as an in between thing for me. I also know that LifeStance has a shorter wait list for psychiatrists and therapists and stuff like that. I found my psychiatrist on there and saw her within a week! They schedule online too so it’s fast and easy to do.

I use and online service through my insurance called MDLive, it is done virtually/over the phone. I was able to schedule an appointment for a week later through the app, longest week ever but it was better than weeks or months away. If you have insurance or even if you don't you could see what they have to offer!❤️

I would try psychologytoday.com because they have a nice search engine where you can filter through your insurance. If you don’t have insurance some therapists do a sliding scale, and a lot of therapists work remotely now due to covid so you could meet on zoom.

I’d try an online provider in the meantime! I used Talkspace before my provider opened up and it was a great gap filler. Now my brother uses Talkspace for his main form of therapy :) in my opinion it’s just important to get those feelings heard and it doesn’t have to fit the “traditional therapy” mold. We’ve busted that wide open!
