Best way to handle Schizophrenia is trying to reconnect to the world again. Watch a favorite movie, show, or listen to some of your favorite tracks. I deal with Schizophrenia as well. When I first was diagnosed I didn't know what it was, but as time passed by, I knew I couldn't do anything but take it as a personal journey. Keep your head up. Things should turn in your favor. This isn't your fault.

Hi! I'm Mai, also non-binary and schizoaffective. πŸ€— I get SSI, I would say some advice to get on that is to be detailed and specific when filling out the forms, esp why your conditions have made it hard to work. And to turn the paperwork in time. Also, reference your psychiatrist(s) and other mental health professionals accurately. Social Security will give a lot of credibility to their words if they contact them. If you've tried to apply before but got rejected for any reason, getting an attorney or social worker helps a lot.

This disorder is recognized by NC as a disability. Once diagnosed by a doctor, you can sign up for disability (SSI). As for as dealing with the disorder, stress can be a trigger. Learning how to minimize the thoughts inside your mind is no easy task. Finding someone who is willing to listen without judgment is not easy either. I'm always available if needed...

I have schizoaffective disorder. I have been on ssi since 2010. I went through a disability lawyer to file. It cost me part of the first month of my ssi but it was worth it. I was homeless and the ssi helped me to pay to live in a halfway house for the mentally ill. The amount of ssi has increased over the years due to cost of living. I have worked part-time jobs but have found it hard to keep. Going back to school on ssi is the best because it's not counted as income so I received the full amount for financial aid. I'm now in the ticket to work program through ssi and they have already paid over $5,000 to help me get my nursing license back by me doing the refresher program. I will be finished and back to work as a nurse in a couple months then I will receive my ssi for 9 months before it stops.

I'm Dustin. I'm also non-binary. For positive symptoms, I've found that CBD and sunlight help. For negative symptoms meditation, tai chi, and a vitamin D supplement. Taking care of myself is top priority or I tend to fall apart easy.
