I need help/advice on a coping mechanical when my mom says, "The next time you swear, I'm going to wash your mouth out with soap." * Side note: I'm 23.

You teach people how to treat you. You can't accept that because at your age this becomes abusive behavior. I've been looker dead in the eyes and say I wouldn't do that if I were you.

okay, I've tried that and I don't get a good response. She says "she'll treat me like one when I act like one."
