Coping with Misophonia: Seeking Advice and Support

I'm relatively new to the idea of misophonia.. I've had sensory issues for a long time, and have always known that certain noises put me on edge and make me feel the need to leave the room so I don't have a go at the person making the noises. My main triggers for this are people eating, heavy breathing, breathing when congested, sniffing and coughing. It's good to be able to put a name to it. Just wondering if there's anyone on here that can advise on some coping strategies, or just be able to relate to this. I'm told its pretty common. Hi to anyone else!

hi! i have a pretty severe case of misophonia that is really hard to live with. I use noise canceling headphones when around trigger sounds and it helps a little bit!

hey! I think I'm going to have to invest in some. Do you have a specific brand you'd recommend?

my triggers are extremely similar to yours, i have the quiet loop earplugs but they're horrible for school, all they do is quite down noise but you can still hear most triggers, some headphones or noose cancelling earbuds can help, I have an earbud exemption for school so I can listen to music during class to block the sounds, but simplified, there's not much you can do since there's no treatment
