Coping with Food Restrictions for IBS and SIBO

hello, I have been diagnosed with Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth 3x, first two times we tried antibiotics but nothing changed so now I have an ND/functional doc going a naturopathic route. I also have IBS mixed so my diet is very limited. no sugar or wheat for SIBO and then lowfod for IBS. How have others coped with food restrictions? Do you also have IBS? Are there any cookbooks that you recommend? thank you!

I just think it’s awful because it’s so hard to find foods that fit because it restricts a lot! I didn’t mean like bad for health lol I should’ve said “hard to follow because of the limitations!” Sorry

no worries! It's difficult at first and definitely frustrating, especially when you have SIBO limitations as well. But I'm starting to cook and bake a lot more and actually broadening my pallet a lot! It's hard work and it SUCKs, I miss garlic and onion SO much, but they have garlic olive oil that's low fod, and the company "Fody" makes sauces like BBQ without garlic or onion! Plus my doc said it's not supposed to be forever!

Wait why is it awful? Personally it's been more effective at reducing my pain than anything else in 3years. Thanks!

The FODMAP diet is awful to follow. I have chronic SIBO and a lot of other GI issues. I had some really good FODMAP recipes…I’m in the hospital with a GI flare up but whenever I get home I’ll see if I can find any good recipes I had written down!
