Hi, I have bipolar disorder 1. What do you do to cope with the mood swings?

Me too. I have trusted friends I talk to and I try to find solitude as much as I can. I also write, play guitar, exercise, hydrate and try to get rest as much as is possible

What I do to cope with the mood swings is listen to music or go for a walk watch some TV all you have to do is distract yourself from the mood swings

I try to stay sane and not rely on any substance. It’s best to talk it through with therapist or family so they’re aware

During an episode shift, there’s not much really to do, in my opinion, except try to get average hours of time in bed per day and talk to people (prof & close) along the way. After the episode(s) are over though I typically reflect on things I did and things I could’ve done but am thankful I didn’t.
