content warning: suicide topics. how do I convince my mom to start up therapy again for me? she always "forgets" to make appointments so I gave up after the third therapist switch. but I'm starting to dissociate during suicidal ideation which is making me more prone to just actually killing myself without feeling regret.

Hello. There are some ways you can get help without parents if you are a minor in America. Go to either Medicare or Medicaid if you are paying yourself. If not, then no need to sign up. You should go to your general physician first, and ask your mom to leave if you will and talk to them and see what they think is the best route. They may prescribe you something as well. You could seek and email therapists yourself to see if they have anything open, and some have free first visits, so check out online! You are old enough to schedule free appointments. If not, hand the phone to your mom immediately, pressuring/forcing her to do her job.

Usually insurance covers visits to therapy, and some insurances even offer free transportation to each visit. I recommend looking into your insurance company (if at all applicable) and seeing what they offer. I’ve had bad experiences with school counselors too, but there’s plenty of free apps to download if you’re looking for a kind ear and medical/mental help/advice. I hope this makes sense and I hope it helps.

I don't go to public school and I've had bad experiences in the past ^^

What about talking to a school therapist? And seeing if they can help?

I didn't know if I would be old enough because here the only things minors can do is go to school and listen to parents pretty much. I could look into it, I might be old enough. Thank you!

I don’t know your situation, feel free to message me if you’d like. But, depending on where you live you could potentially be old enough to set them up yourself. I’m 19 and have been setting up and going alone to my own doctor appts. Since I was 16. I’d be more than happy to help walk you through it 💕
