Confused about POTS treatment

I have no idea what to expect treatment wise for POTS. It seems so varied online and I can’t tell what’s up from my doctor.

I’m on midodrine and it seems to help! It helps with the blood pooling and my super low blood pressure. Something that has actually helped a ton is getting iv saline once a week. For me I can usually get about 4 good days out of it! I just brought it up to my doc as a treatment and she was down to try it! It’s the one thing that has helped me the most this far

Mads- Thanks for the response. A few of my doctors have brought up Florinef as the most “safe” option for treatment. I’m still unsure because I’ve heard such mixed reviews from people with similar symptoms but I appreciate the feedback!

AMR - I was on metoprolol(tried 2 different doses) and didn’t notice an improvement but actually had increased chest pain on the higher dose, strangely enough. My GP had me on metoprolol to try & manage symptoms before my first appt with a cardiologist. Since both doses didn’t change my symptoms, my cardiologist weaned me off of it and offered to let me try florinef. I had to come off of it to get certain labs during a hospitalization and was completely miserable/couldn’t function. I still deal with a lot of symptoms that nobody can explain and am looking at an unknown diagnosis but the florinef is helping my pots symptoms a ton!

Mads- what do you mean when you say “you failed beta blockers”. Also, do you mind sharing what was your experience was like getting on/ trying different meds?

The only way to improve your condition is by exercising, which sucks, cause pots makes it hard. The main treatment is management of your condition. Eat goldfish, or other salty foods. Do daily floor exercises/stretches, even if for a short time. Drink a ton of water.

It varies a lot since there’s no approved treatment. I drink a gallon of water a day, take salt tablets, and take florinef. The florinef is a miracle drug for me since I failed beta blockers. Hope you get the treatment you need and that works well for you! 💕
