How do I tell someone that I can’t focus on what they’re saying because I’m trying not SH?

I’m sorry, I do not know what SH is, are you willing to share what that stands for? I’m not familiar with many acronyms or shortcuts for illnesses and symptoms, I’m sorry if my inquiry causes you any stress

no it’s totally fine! SH stands for self harm

i think it depends on how open you want to be. you could say something along the lines of “ i’m really struggling with my mental health and i might seem a bit distracted/distant right now. or if you feel comfortable sharing more about your situation you could disclose your struggle with self harm and explain that you are distracted by self harm thoughts at the moment and thus might not be as engaged. people may get a bit upset but please remember that they are not upset at you and that you are allowed to struggle and be distracted due to mental health :)
