I’ve just recently had to drop out of college due to my intense fatigue and inability to do school. I feel useless and like a failure! Does anyone have advice or wise words for me? I know it’s not my fault - I have to listen to my body - but it feels so unfair sometimes.

Although I don’t have much advice, I wanted to say you’re not alone! I’m on leave from school right now due to cfs. I’m feeling pretty down on myself about it too but I just try to keep going day by day. Seeing a therapist has helped me a lot as well. College isn’t necessary to live a happy life! You made the right decision putting your health first :)

If you ever want to message me and rant, you are more than welcome to! I don't know anyone else with CFS that hadn't yet finished their education
I know exactly how you feel. I had to unenroll from my DPT program that I was supposed to start last fall. I decided to try to take some Data Analytics classes, as that would be a doable work-from-home job, considering that my physical health might not improve. However, it just worsened my brain fog, and even though I was doing so well, my brain fog and fatigue made it impossible to continue. I am not sure when I'll be able to return to classes to finish my education, and it took so long to accept that (I should have known back in June when I unenrolled from my DPT program, but it took me until November to really drop everything, and it took until December to get over myself.) I want to tell you that your worth is not at all based on your achievements or productivity. You are doing what you can, and that is enough ❤️ I found peace in taking my healing journey day by day. I find it emotionally painful to think about what my future may or may not hold (I had such big plans!), so I now focus on the present and use all of my energy to heal myself.

As someone who deals with CFS and bunch of other conditions I totally relate to the feeling of unfairness.. it sucks and life really isn't fair. I try to practice gratefulness and mention the things I do have like my family, friends my beautiful home and of course thankful for myself who deals with all of that, just like you!
As a therapist, I recommend finding other things you enjoy to do to countinue to help you build mastery and self esteem 💕
